Hi, my name is Shannon Uppington! I am a Manual Osteopath (DOMP). I graduated from the National Academy of Osteopathy where I also volunteered as a Teaching Assistant. I am also a graduate of the Fitness and Health Promotion program at Humber College. I am a certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Nutrition Coach. It was my love for overall health and wellbeing that led me to pursue a career in Osteopathy. As a Personal Trainer, I loved helping my clients reach their goals, but I wanted to be able to help them even more, primarily through injury management – treating previous injuries and preventing future ones, improving joint mobility, and increasing vitality. Osteopathy takes an integrated and holistic approach to treating injuries and pain. It also focuses on treating the source of the problem and not just the resulting signs and symptoms. It is for these reasons that I like to integrate my fitness background into my treatments by giving my patients strengthening exercises and stretches that they can do at home to help accelerate their progress and recovery. I have a special interest in treating sports and athletic injuries, as well as other musculoskeletal/joint issues, headaches and migraines, postural issues, and chronic pain conditions. When I am not at the clinic, you can find me working out or teaching a group fitness class, playing with my dog, doing something outdoors, or cooking or baking.
